Oravecz Hargita: Dévaványa - Atyaszeg

DÉVAVÁNYA - ATYASZEG Nowdays, one of the most cited assemblage of Early Neolithic was descovered in 1949 by Mr. Korek J. He excavated one small refuse pit with few fragments. Altgether 63 pes. of ceramic and other fragment were described. The total lack of unaecorated coarse shapes suggest selection throughout documentation. Despite this fact, it is worthwhile to examine the detailes of assemblage various origin. Briefly, qualification of the finds shows a mixture of different culture traits, as follows: A: the traditional Körös shape elements and decorations (i.e. incised, impressed finger nail or barbotin decoration, the features like fired clay female figurines, loom weights etc.). B: several „new" traits (e.g. those with no recorded predecessors in Körös culture, various carinated forms, pedestal based bowls, technologically different dark (burnished, polished, slipped) wares. C: fragments resembling Linear Pottery Cultures, like prestige items: fired clay bracelets imitating polished stone or Spondylus predecessores. Hargita Oravecz
