ViNCA FINDS 11 Fig. 2. represent one — or several ones — of the most essential scene or scenes of the ritual of a developed cult practice. 7 2. Small, fragmentary clay altar. Inv. no.: 1932:26.22. (Figs. 4:4a —b). Altar of small dimensions, made of dark gray clay, decorated on its four legs and outer sides with an incised meander pattern. Its rim is preserved only on one side. The fragment makes it probable that it might have been decorated with an animal head, which was, however, broken off. Analogies to it are known from Level В of Vinca and Tordos as well. 8 3. Small altar decorated with an animal head. Inv. no.: 1950:8.37. (Figs. 3: 2. a —c). Offering-table with four legs, of a reddish-brown, poorly burnt clay. Its two sides and back wall are decorated with incised lines, enclosed in a frame.
