87 LESZIH: SCYTHIAN FINDS FROM THE COUNTY OF BORSOD 5. A coarse-walled vessel with a broad large handle and on its belly slanting incisions (Pl. IV, fig. 26, diam. at the mouth 6-8 cm). The deposits were: a fragment of an iron knife (Pl. IV, fig. 30) and an iron axe-adze of usual form (Pl. IV, fig. 29, length 17 cm). Miskolc. 1 Arch. Ért. 1897, p. 20, fig. 10. When Count Alfréd Szirmay, who lived at Szirmabessenyő near Miskolc and who had frequently made excavations on his property as well as in the surroundings, died in 1901, he left not only a rich collection of armour but also a considerable quantity of archeological finds, of which the greater part was presented to our Museum. Unfortunately the objects were not labelled, and there was no inventary of them. Among his papers remained only a sheet of paper with the coloured drawings of the most significant prehistoric objects of the collection and on that was also summarised in German, that the finds had been obtained from the following sites: Szirmabessenyő, Sajóbessenvő, Sajókeresztur, Kisfalud puszta, Miskolc, Novaj, Sajóvámos, etc. Apart from Novaj which is near Egjer, all sites are to be found within a 4 km distance of Szirmabessenyő — except Kisfalud puszta, which is 11 km distant. It is thus probable that the dagger, mentioned previously, was found in the immediate surroundings of Szirmabessenyő. Novaj can not be reckoned as its site beause beside one of the vessels on the drawing was written Novaj. Such a name of the site is only beside this one 6. Small fragments of an urn. On one small sherd a wart. It had contained bones and a spindle-whorl. 7. and 8. Fragments of urns. On this site as stray finds three penannular bronze bracelets came to light with simple incised line decoration. Andor Leszih prehistoric object, so this is also a proof, that all the others including also the dagger came to light in the surroundings of Szirmabessenyő. 2 Arch. Ért. 1929, pl.
