nifikáns. Ezek az eredmények a gyakorlat számára meggyőző és bizonyítékokon alapuló döntéseket készíthetnek elő. A fogpótlást tervező biztonsággal nyilatkozhat a terápia előnyeiről és arról, hogy az elfogadott terápiás terv mennyire javítja a funkciókat a szájban és az egyén mindennapi életét általában. Nyilvánvaló az is, hogy nemzetközi szinten, széles körben használatos kérdőív magyar változatának kidolgozása hiánypótló törekvés. Ez annál inkább sürgető kívánalom, mert az adaptáció módszertani háttere alaposan ismert [12]. így a kérdőív minősége, validitása és pszichometriai paraméterei ellenőrizhetők.

A foghiány értékelésében a követelmények nagyot változtak attól az állapottól, amikor a teljes vagy nagyfokú foghiány a táplálkozás miatt az emberi élettel nehezen volt összeegyeztethető. Korunk teljesen megváltozott környezetében azonban a szájegészséggel kapcsolatos életminőség alakulása jelentős hatást gyakorol a foghiányos állapot diagnosztikus, kezelést meghatározó és terápiás tevékenységére. Nyilvánvaló, hogy ha a fogpótlástan mint tudomány tovább akar fejlődni, akkor a tapasztalatok helyett az adatokra épülő gyógyeljárások hatékonyságát kell megállapítani, és a protokolljait ezután kidolgozni. A nemzetközileg koordinált többközpontú vizsgálatokban az OHIP-típusú mérőeszköz a nemzetenkénti különbségek ellenére, azonos mérési, kiértékelési lehetőségeket kínálnak és használnak ki. így ismert terápiás programok esetén nagyobb lélekszámú betegcsoport összehasonlítására is lehetőség van a kulturális környezettől függetlenül, és jó az esély arra, hogy a gyógyeljárás minőségbiztosítása is tovább javítható legyen.
