gyermek, aki magának fájdalmat és sérülést okoz, pszichológiailag abnormálisnak tekinthető - szakemberhez kell irányítani.

Kezelés

Viselkedési szokásuk megváltoztatása mellett, a kezelés lehet szedálás és védőeszközök alkalmazása.

Összefoglalva, sok rossz szokás normálisnak tekinthető bizonyos életkorig. A rossz szokások kialakulása kapcsolatban lehet a gyermek emocionális állapotával. A fogorvosnak figyelembe kell vennie, hogy a leszoktatás ill. a kezeléssel elérhető eredmény arányban áll-e a kezelés által esetleg kiváltható újabb, komolyabb pszichés problémával.

A rossz szokások által okozott rendellenességeket aktív orthodontiai kezeléssel sem könnyű megszüntetni, amíg a szokás fennáll. A retenciós idő befejezése után, ha a rossz szokás még megmarad, recidívára számíthatunk. A fogorvos feladata és felelőssége a rossz szokások felismerése, és az időben alkalmazott megfelelő terápiával a társszakmákkal együttműködve segítse a gyermeket a leszokásban.
