148 SUMMARY I. Földváry, M. D., Occlusal balance of crown and bridge work. For balancing occlusion in crown and bridge work ideally, impression is to be taken of the full complement of teeth in both jaws and positive models are to be mounted in an articulator. D. Hattyasy, M. D., asst, professor : Posteruptive hardening of enamel. Groufld sections stained with alcoholic fuchsin immediately after extraction and fixation give in a high percentage positive coloring of enamel. Intact and carious teeth (occlusal) display slight staining in 50% of examined specimens. Tufts, lamellae and small areas proximal to the dentino-enamel junction are mostly stained. In teeth with proximal caries greater areas are stained in approximately 82% of specimens. Age and staining display no correlation. Intact teeth of caries immune juvenile persons display no staining being completely calcified. Maturation of enamel becomes manifest by examination in polarized light too. This occurs from the saliva as well as from the dentin. Physiologically, in the enamel three layers are discernible : the outer layer influenced by saliva, the innermost part influenced by dentin and the central part influenced by both the saliva and the dentin. — In polarized light enamel often displays abnormal interference colors. G. Huszár, M. D. : Width and extensibility of the labial orifice. This is characterized by the difference of width in rest and in maximally dilated condition. In females, the extensibility of the labial orifice is greater than in males, however, normal measures are somewhat smaller. In adolescence the extensibility reduces markedly. Pathologically it is reduced by trauma, lupus, scleroderma, etc. I. Kemény, M. D. : Inlay in inlay in III class cavities of cuspids. In approximo-cervical cavities of cuspids inlay in inlay is made by author typically. The marginal inlay is introduced from approximal while the coronal part is introduced from the palatal side. The former is prepared by the direct method, the later by the indirect one. Hereby much hard tissue can be saved. A. G. Kocsis, M. D., asst, professor : X ray examination of the temporomandibular joint with special regard of the capitulum. By Schuller’s method the temporo-mandibular joint can easily be roentgenographed a) in rest, b) in occlusion, c) with mouth opened, d) with mandible propulsed, e) in lateral excursion of the mandible. — In roentgengrams exposed by Schuller’s method the condylar path can readily be determined. S. Kucharik, M. D. : Pencillin in root canal treatment. In 70 cases infected pulp canals were treated by Pencillin, partly as solution, partly as an ointment, partly as pulver. Clinical results are satisfactory. Bacteriologically only 40% of cases proved to be sterile. L. Molnár, M. D., D. M. D., asst, professor : Changes in jaw bones under artificial dentures. If dentures are displaced during mastication, by traumatisation osteolysis and vascular resorption of bone occur. Optimal function is a stimulus of bone formation. This can be obtained in dental prosthesis by forming optimally occlusal surfaces and the basis. P. Oravecz, M. D., professor of stomatology, director of the Stomatological University Clinic in Pécs : Pain prevention in childrens dentistry. Besides locally administered carbolic acid, chlorphenol, argentum nitricum, oleum cariophyllorum and cocain, anesthetic injections or general anesthesia are used. A mixture of ethylchlorid with alcohol, called Gewaethyl, is preferred. L. Papp, M. D. : Evaluation of cavity preparation according to Black. Black,s system of cavity preparation is superior to all other methods up to the present. R. Rehák, M. D., asst, professor : The problem of impression trays. A typical series of 19 trays is constructed by author and is recommended for general use. Trays are constructed based upon anthropological measurements of recent Hungarian population. C. Sallay, M. I), and K. Nádor : New investigation on salivary Kallikrein. Kallikrein injected intravenously causes increased secretion in the stomach. Kalli-
