Summary.

The procedure of the aseptic root-filling insures two negatives for the organism, notably: 1. it does not injure the tissues of the periosteum by strong desinfecting means; 2. it does not carry any pathogenic germs into the rootcanal and into the wound inflected on the pulp, and it does further not irritate the tissues.

The paste the author is using for the root-fillings of deciduous teeth consists regarding its fundamental substance of sterile vaseline and of sterile paraffin oil to which he is adding also some extraordinarily mildly reacting antiseptic in order to prevent the eventual reinfection: boric acid, jodoform and for the purpose of X-ray contrast: bismutum subnitricum. He is applying the rootfilling paste prepared in an absolutely sterile way, in order to preserve its perfect sterility, by means of a root-filling syringe constructed separately for this purpose, from which the paste can be carried directly into the crown pulp or into the rootcanal respectively. The advantages of the instrument referred to above are the following: it can be held in the hand like a pen, even when it contains only the slightest quantity of paste; that the remedy which it contains, can be pressed out from same in its totality; that by pushing forward the wooden piston, the lock provided on the lower end of the instrument, is insuring that the tube is constantly filled.
