We are grateful The First Hungarian Baptist Church Mi detroitiak mindig szerettünk átmenni a torontói gyülekezet rámái táborába. Kétszer, háromszor is egy nyáron, amikor közös táborozási lehetőség nyílik. Az idén rájöttünk, hogy nálunk sokkal nagyobb utakat is megtettek némelyek, hogy találkozzanak ismert és még ismeretlen testvéreikkel. Az Űr tartsa meg a tábort és szorgalmas munkásait, a torontói gyülekezetét és lelkipásztorát! Nem akartunk készületlenül érkezni a rámái röplabda mérkőzésekre, ezért az idén is tartottunk néhány „bemelegítő” gyakorlatot az Erie tó partján, meg ilj. Für Béla testvéréknél. A fényképünk is ott készült, június 27-én. Jól esett a játék után mindaz, amit testvéreink az asztalra tettek. Szeretettel köszöntöttük itt, és másnap a gyülekezetben is az előző nap érkezett Zeffer Béla testvért, a Bihari Gyülekezet és körzete lelkipásztorát, aki szabad-to God for giving us people who still care for the continuance of Hungarian Baptist work here in America. (A gyakorlás egyébként nem volt hiábavaló, hiszen az amerikai csapat nyerte meg az idén a rámái röplabda kupát.) Gyülekezetünk a Déli Baptista Szövetség (Southern Baptist Convention) tagja is. A legnagyobb baptista szövetség ezidei közgyűlésére gyülekezetünkből Herjeczki Géza lp. és felesége, valamint Pacsai József testvérek mentek el. Az Indianapolisban megtartott közgyűlésen több mint 18,000 résztvevő jelent meg (azt mondják, hogy ennél sokkal többen is szoktak lenni). Az SBC elnökségében Rév. Dr. Morris Chapmant Rev. Edwin Young váltotta fel. A 147 éves szövetségnek több mint 120 országban közel 4000 misszionáriusa van. Ezt a számot tovább kívánják bővíteni. Adja az Úr, hogy sok elveszettet vezethessenek még Jézushoz! Máté July at Bethesda The Bethesda Home was greatly honored by the presentation of $50,000 from the Garfield Baptist Church membership, upon the sale of their church. Mr. Lewis Nemeth from Garfield, NJ presented the check to me in the presence of Ernest Kish, President of the Union. It was voted upon by the membership to place $40,000 toward the mortgage reduction and $10,000 for the urgent projects at The Home. This is a most joyous occasion in the history of The Home but a sad time in knowing one of the Hungarian churches has ceased its ministry in one of the Hungarian communities. Our wish is that those people who are now worshipping with a newer body of believers, will find God’s continuing love in a different dimension and will carry on their individual ministries as the Lord directs. We thank them for their many decades of faithful, prayerful and financial support. The July 4th observation began with a patriotic songfest after breakfast. A few residents selected their favorite songs and the others joined in heartily. The theme of the day brought discussions of past parades, outdoor concerts, family reunions and fireworks during the good ’ol days. As I watched them sing, 1 was reminded of the third verse of “My Country, Tis of Thee” Let music swell the breeze And ring from all the trees — sweet freedom i song; Let mortal tongues awake; Let all that breathe partake; Let rocks their silence break — the sound prolong. To celebrate National Ice Cream Week, a mid-afternoon social was planned to try several flavors of ice cream with fresh fruit and other toppings. While everyone was enjoying the refreshments, the record player was set up in the TV room and classical music was played for their listening enjoyment. We are so thankful for the return visit of Fletcher Redman, a former jeweler who had an established jewelry shop in Melbourne for many years. He is an excellent musician and is well-known in the community of Palm Bay, where he makes his home with his wife, Dorothy. Some time ago, someone heard him sing and asked him why he did not utilize his talent in the Lord’s service. From that day forth, he has given his testimony and ministers in music at different churches, retirement homes, by invitation. As he sings the old beloved hymns, our people join him and are refreshed by the message in each song. A special time of renewal was enjoyed * * * DETROIT Church picnic if}.
