A lapból tud­juk azt, hogy a magyar missziónak még van alapja Kanadában. Köny­­nyes szemmel olvasom a testvér be­számolóját, hogy a nyáron elkezdtek építeni egy Kápolnát a Torontói Tá­borban. Olvasom, hogy már tető alatt van, de még több munka van bent, mint amit eddig elvégeztek. Mi mindig szerettünk a kül- és belmisz­­.szióra adakozni, és itt küldünk most 80 dollárt. Tessék ezt Isten szent ne­vében arra a szép magyar misszióra fordítani, ami még Torontóban van, hogy fölépíthessék az Úr dicsőségére a Kápolnát.” Sok szeretettel: Fábián János és neje Surrey, B. C. A Torontói Gyüleke­zet nevében: Viczián János, lelki­­pásztor.) • SAO PAULO, BRAZÍLIA Különlegesen szép ünnepélyünk volt december 22-én, amikor gyüle­kezetünk pénztárosát, Toschihico Moriya testvért diakónussá avattuk. Az Istentiszteleten az igét Andre Petkov, a Sao Paulo-i Baptista Álla­mi Szövetség titkára hirdette s ő mondta az avatási imát. Tegye az Ür Moriya testvérünk szolgálatát áldá­sossá a többi diákónus testvér szol­gálatával együtt. December 28-án tartotta egybeke­­lési ünnepélyét Elvira Pereira De Novais Neta nőtestvér Boncidai Ist­ván testvérrel szép számú hallgató­ság előtt. Az Isten igéjének hirdetése után az egybekelési szertartást a gyü­lekezet lelkipásztora végezte. Az Úr áldását és vezetését kérjük az ifjú párra. • BRIDGEPORT, CONN. A Silliman Memorial Baptist Church az év első teljes hetében öt estén át imaközösséget tartott. Az imaórákat öt különböző otthonban tartották, vasárnap és péntek között December was a very special month at Bethesda, because of the joys of Christmas and all of the ex­citement surrounding it. The spirit of celebrating the birth of our Lord began shortly after Thanksgiving and lasted throughout the entire month. Your Home was superbly decorated both in and out, and thus added immeasurably to the festi­vities normal to the Christmas season. Two illuminated angels on our front lawn greeted all of our countless visitors. Christmas trees and other decorations adorned our lounge and dining room. Another tree shone brilliantly in our visitor’s lounge to give outward beauty to this festive occasion. Each resident received a hanging stocking filled with many goodies on their door on Christmas Eve. In addition to this, we supplied many of our residents who are without families or means with both money and additional gifts to add to the joys of our aged residents. During the course of the month, we had many, many groups of people come to add to our joys by singing their praises to God for the birth of our Saviour. Whereas the outward signs of celebrating Christmas were wonderful to be­hold, our spiritual celebration was also a cause for great joy. Scripture passages leading up to the birth of Christ were read and expounded upon each day. Christmas carols were sung, and services were held to further tell the good news of His birth. On Christmas Eve we had a grand and glorious gathering com­bined with members of our church and area friends at which time ves­per services were held, and the real reason for celebrating was very aptly presented to all of us by Dr. Biro, pastor of our church. We heard a few numbers from our choirs which brought back memo­ries and joys of past Christmases to so many of the people present. After the services, the inner man was also satisfied with goodies such as only our Hungarian ladies from the church and the area could provide. We had close to 150 people in atten­dance. We praise God for all of His blessings and pray for guidance and wisdom to continue our services to our aging residents. In addition to the Christmas fes­tivities, other matters took place at the Home which were also of great significance. One of our life care members, Helen Veizer, returned from the hospital after some very serious surgery. She is now recupe­rating and coming along quite nicely. Another resident, Edward Sabo (Fairfield, Conn.) is in the hospital at present, but hopefully will be out shortly. Mrs. Elizabeth Halas (Indianapolis) has once again returned to our Home. She had gone to live with her son about six months ago, but missed our fellowship and returned. Our winter guests are beginning to arrive, and before long we will have a "full house”. Some of those who are spending the winter with us are as follows: Mr. and Mrs. N. Bodolay (Wadsworth), Mr. and Mrs. Allison Sebestian (Albany, N. Y.), Mrs. Elizabeth Chernak (Wooster, Ohio), Mrs. Ethel Muncson (Allen Park, Mich.), Dr. and Mrs. Paul Vezsenyi (Cobleskill, N. Y.), Mrs. Ethel Bon­­revi (Hamilton, Ont., Canada), and Mrs. Margaret Bodalovsky (Port Colborne, Ont., Canada). We expect many more arrivals within the next few weeks. It is a joy for us to see so many of God’s people from all sections of our country and Canada. We Hungarian Baptists should be proud of the services which our Home provides. One of our residents, Mrs. Elizabeth Kmet, received a letter of good wishes from the President of the United States, Gerald Ford, wishing her a very happy birthday.
