Kókay Krisztina (Esztergom, 2005)

But I'm digressing. What should I do? I believe that your graphic illustrations and your gobelins should not be put in the stocks. They should be daydreamed about, they should be flown above on the wings of imagination. One sees things in them. One notices that they are different from close up, from a few steps or a few meters back. New dimensions open up in one small work, but I know that this is because you have great distances within yourself. The rare skill of being able to see close and see far: that's what I discover in every seemingly abstract work of yours - a rare gift. Because most of us are either shortsighted or far-sighted, both being able to create wonderful art. Being both, in my experience, makes one feel, know and describe the universe, while making one also very lonely in it. Alone. Because she is different from the others. It might be a curse for anyone, but for an artist. For whom it is a gift. Fate itself, with capital letters. And what else could be the fate of the artist than to fulfill her chosen road with the greatest professionalism? Your chosen road is hard. Because life handed you a number of tasks in the world unrelated to arts. And also because if you happen to be a person who creates works that should be looked at from close up, from the usual distance and from afar - and these three perspectives offer different solutions to the viewer - one thing can be said for sure about you: you are hard to get. This, proverbially, is true for all values, whether they are moral, artistic or natural values like real pearls. OPENING SPEECH, GÖDÖLLŐ, KING'S CASTLE, 21. OCTOBER 2003 HOZZAD VEZETŐ II. • LEADING UP TO YOU II . ■ 2002 PASZTELL • PASTELL • 70X50 CM
