Fra gli Edifizi Publici più importanti di Esztergom meritano essere visitati: il Municipio il di, cui pianoterra era stata la curia del famoso generale kuruc Vakk Botv- tyàn, poi la biblioteca della diocesi, che contiene 120 mila volumi. Fra i volumi di gran valore della biblioteca sono le tre Corvina ed il Codex Jordánszky. Monumenti e Statue di Esztergom: La statua della Santissima Trinità davanti il Municipio. •— Il Monumeto agli Eroi caduti nella guerra mondiale sul Monte San Tommaso; la Capella della Vergine addolorata con magnifiche statue in stile barocco del calvario. Esztergom la Città di Villeggiatura e di Bagni: I bagni magnifici, l’aria sana e pura, i bei parchi e passeggi, gli stupendi luoghi per escursioni rendono la città di Esztergom una della più belle città da bagni dell’Ungheria. — Si estende sulla sponda de piccolo Danubio. — L’acqua del Bagno artesiano Szent István ha una temperatura di 29 gradi centigradi. — Fra i suoi ingredienti chimici: il ferro, lo zolfo, il magnesio e gli ingredienti radio attivi le danno un gran valore medicinale. •— Questa acqua minerale viene adoperata con gran risultato specialmente nelle malattie nervose. Nel bagno si trovano due grandi piscine, bagno a vapore che rappresentano la moderna idroterapia. — Vi sono inoltre luoghi ombrosi per riposarsi, attrezzi ginnastici, bagni di sabbia che rendono in ogni riguardo piacevole il soggiorno ed il bagno. Bagni a buon prezzo sono i bagni di spiaggia del Danubio dove alla comodità del pubblico servono i bagni di sabbia e ciottoli ed il buffet. Luoghi di Escursioni: I dintorni di Esztergom sono ricchi di luoghi da escursioni. — In primo luogo é importante il Rifugio Vaskapu circa 1 ora distante dalla città dove tanto d’inverno quanto d’estate si trova a disposizione del pubblico un buffet a buon prezzo. —• Nel rifugio vi sono diverse stanze ed un grande dormitolo che rende possibile di rimanere per più giorni. — Gli altri luoghi di escursione importanti si trovano segnati su qualsiasi carta topografica relativa. PREFACE. The 900th anniversary of the great organiser of the Hungarian state, the King St. Stephen will be celebrated by its birthplace, the town Esztergom, in 1938. Esztergom is the town within the walls of which also to-day the holy spot is guarded with awe where the first Hungarian King has been born and where the soil preserves the traces of his steps and the works of his creation. Esztergom invites all Hungarian brethren arid friends from abroad to share in these festivities. The nation shall come to make profession of faith in the glory of St. Stephen and to receive the blessing for another thousand years to come from his spirit floating over this town. And the foreigner should come to witness the ancient culture of the Hungarian province in this town as a representant of it and also the unbreakable energy of the Hungarian race which after a long time of sorrow and sufferance swings up to the sun again. Esztergom, the seat of the Cardinal Prince Primate, the ancient town and the cradle of the Hungarian state, the town of schools which educates a new generation recruiting from all parts of Hungary in the spirit of St. Stephen to religious and good patriots, calls you.
