III. MEMORIAL PLATES Károly Szabó 89. The Local Government and the Esztergom-Budapest Diocese placed the memorial plate of the ioooth anniversary of the wedding of St. Stephen and Giselle of Bayern onto the right belfry of the Basilica, in 1995. It was made of black marble, the size is 90x150 cm. 90. In 1997 The Self Government of the Polish Minority of Esztergom, the Diocese of Esztergom-Budapest, and the St. Adalbert Union of The Polish Catholics in Hungary placed a memorial plate onto the left belfry of the Basicila in honour of the ioooth anniversary of the death of bishop St. Adalbertus. It was made of black marble, and the size is 100 x250 cm. 91. At No. 5, Berényi Street, a memorial plate was put up by Primate Card. Sándor Rudnay. The marble plate is of a 40x150cm size, and the inscription says: TENERAE PVBI RVDIMNETIS BONARVM ARTIVM IMBVENDAE, PRINCEPS PRIMAS ALEXANDER A RVDNA, MDCCCXXIV / So chat che fresh youth should emerge in ics studies and Christianity, by Primate Card. Sándor Rudnay, 1824. 92. On the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Kindergarten in Bottyán Street, the Local Governing Council of Esztergom put up this me­morial plate in 1963. It was made of white marble, and has a size of 30x40 cm. 93. We also find a painted iron memorial plate on the wall of the City Centre Parish in the corner of Bottyán Street and King Béla IV Street. The plate indicates that this place is supposed to be where the Franciscans founded their first cloister in Hungary. Here we also find the tomb of the king Béla IV. The size of the plate is 6o x8ocm. 94. There is a red marble plate of a 70x170cm size, right under the bell, on the clock tower of the Town Hall. It bears a chronosticonal inscription: HaC PaLesrra AV gVscae Theresae Regis ApostoLICI MVnlflCA LIberaLIcace In CVrla Reglae hVIVS Civitatis Scrlgonlensis eXsVrreXic / This palace was built by che magnanimity and the generosity of Her majesty Mary Theresa, Apostolic Queen, in the Royal Manison of Eszrergom. 95. The citizens of Esztergom and the Board of Directors of the Hungari­an Railways together put up a memorial in November 1991 in honour of Gábor Baross, Minister of Transport.
