Az elmúlt Pünkösd Ünnepén, 1972. május 21=én, sorsdöntő lépést tett new-yorki magyar gyülekezetünk, amikor az istentisz­telet végeztével tartott rendkívüli közgyűlésen,?tudva azt, hogy a Szt. Péter egyház keretében a magyar munka további folytatására kielégítő és Ígéretes lehetőség nyilt, kimondotta a gyülekezet feloszlását. A Szt. Péter evangélikus egyház;< amint azt a mellékelt ’ nyelvű jegyzőkönyv harmadik és kővetkező szakaszaiban lát-S mindazoknak a magyar Testvéreknek, akik tagságuknak oda való eléhez hozzájárulnak, továbbra biztosít istentiszteleti és lelkészi szolgálatokat, azokra helyet és alkalmat nyújt, gyűlé­sekre, különleges rendezésekre, egyházi oktatásra lehetőséget ád és szeretettel várja Testvéreinket tagjai sorába. Dr. Regös Péter, Szenttomyay Gábor és Melich László test­véreink kaptak felhatalmazást arra, hogy a tagság áttételével ^'áró teendőkben segédkezzenek. Ennek alapján most arra kérjük ittestvéreinket. szíveskedjenek a csatolt Űrlapot kitöltve és aláírva a Szt. Péter egyház címére eljuttatni. A nyár folyamán a Szt. Péter egyház vezetősége a magyar tagság felvételét elő kívánja készíteni, úgy hogy az Ősszel, alighanem szeptemberben, a magyar gyülekezet tagságának a fel­vétele ünnepi formában megtörténhessék. Bízunk abban, hogy ez a megoldás, a nyomasztó anyagi -terhek és a bizonytalanság ele­meinek az elmozdításával, bátorítást és biztatást nyújt Hittest­véreinknek az egyház életében való további hűséges részvételre. Azt a magunk részéről, amennyire lehet, szeretettel szorgalmaz­zuk, és reméljük, hogy az új lehetőséggel mindnyájan élni fogunk. Megemlítjük még, hogy június 18án délelőtt 11 órakor Nt. Megyer Lajos lelkész úr szolgálatával a Szt. Péter egyház gyülekezeti termében (132 East 54th St.) ismét tartunk magyar nyelvű úrvacsorái istentiszteletet s arra Hittestvéreinket is­mét szeretettel várjuk. Nevem (nyomtatva) (Name, printed) Lakcím és telefon: (address & phone #)' Kelt: _______________________ Aláírás (date) (signed) A special meeting of Our Savior Hungarian Lutheran Church, New York, New York, was held on May 21, 1972 following the 11:00 A/M* Communion Service at St. Peters Lutheran Church, 132 East 54St, New York City. Twenty members of the congregation were in attendance. Present were also the Rev. Norberth Stracker repre­senting Metropolitan New York Synod, The Rev. i.ouis S. Bell who conducted the service and acted as secretary at the meeting and The Rev. Lajos Megyer, a visiting^clergyman from the Lutheran Church of Hungary. Dr. Peter Regó's, lay Vice-Chairman presided. After introductory remarks concerning the decision to be made about the future of the congregation Pastor Stracker presented a possible resolution v/hich would provide for the dissolution of Our Savior's congregation and an orderly transfer of the membership to St. Peters Church. It was understood that this arrangement would provide pastoral services as well as worship, meeting and educational facilities and arrangements for the Hungarian congregation. Several questions were asked concerning the implications of the reso­lution. The answers offered by Pastors Stracker and Bell allayed the apprehensions of the group and the arrangement appeared to be desirable and attractive. It was then moved that the following resolution be voted upon: BE IT RESOLVED: That, at a legally-called special congre­gational meeting on Sunday, May 21, 1972, we, the members of Our Savior Hungarian Lutheran congregation of Manhattan, N.Y., approve the dissolution of our congregation, empower our church trustees to take all necessary legal steps eminating therefrom, and to request concurring approval of our action on the part of the Executive Board, Metro­politan New York Synod, Lutheran Church in America. We further empower the church trustees to arrange for the orderly transfer of our active members to the membership of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Manhattan, N.Y., and all congregational records and legal papers to the archives of the Synod for safe keeping and for historical record. It is understood that conversationsbe initiated with the pastor and church council of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, requesting the tree use ot a worship facility for monthly services and for special festival occasions, that facili­ties be provided for special meetings when the occasion warrants, and that, in turn, we enter into the life and program of St. Peter's Lutheran Church as active and sup­porting members. With a voice vote the resolution was adopted unanimously. In terms of the meeting Dr. Peter Regös and the Rev. Louis S. Bell were instructed to sign as President and Secretary respectively, Messrs. Gabor Szenttomyay and Leslie Melich were requested to attest the signing of the resolution. To carry out the orderly transfer of membership by contacting those on the roll for their consent and to provide for further arrangements with St. Peter's Church Council a continuing Trustee Committee was appointed with Dr. Regős and Messrs. Szenttomyay and Melich as members. Pastor Bell will work with them in ini­tiating the transfer procedure and in seeking organizational ties to St. Peter Church's leadership structure Te.g., continuing Hungarian committee, possibility of Church Council representation, etc.), Pastor Stracker emphasized that upon proper reception into mem­bership at St. Peter's all Hungarian members would enter upon the rights and responsibilities of regular members and through their contributions offered and gathered in the usual way of St. Peters Church they ought to provide for honoraria of the supplying Min­ister. These matters ought to be taken up once the transfer has taken place. A final item: Pastor Stracker pointed out that the Trustee Com­mittee of three should secure legal advice on dissolving the corporation as well.
