The four TS-VI cutting machines had a rather low output because the cutting blades had to be sharpened or replaced frequently: the low quality of the cut tobacco was highly prejudicial to the optimum working of the machine. It is probably due to the realisation of this fact that from 1957 the whole system of tobacco preparation was radically reviewed.
