Arnell with Asian L. epiphylla and the descriptions of Herzog (Flora 135, 1942:413), I found L. quintasii var. mascarenica conspecific with the Asian Leptolejeunea epiphylla, partly with its f. angusta Herz. Although the var. mascarenica was not validly published, A r n e 11' s description drew my attention to the possibility of the identity of these taxa and a Kenyan specimen collected by A . and R .
