1930 / 4. szám - The Economic Position of Hungary
28 HUNGARIA LLOYD September 1930 ment in industries and trade) it is hard for Foreign capitalists to form an opinion concerning the several companies and also in regard to entire groups of production. Hence every company has to arrange to render in format ion by comprehensive reports concerning its business within wide ranges of the home and foreign public. Lower interest rates can therefore be only got after foreign finance will he perfectly satisfied on the position and future chances of the several lines of production requiring credit. It would be desirable for such purpose to arrive at steady markets which again would clear the position. British and Hungarian Bank Limited, Budapest, Semi-annual Balance Sheet. The Board of Directors of the British & Hungarian Bank Ltd. dealt in its meeting held on July 30th with the bank's semi-annual Balance Sheet as of June 30th, 1930, which-disregarding the profits otf Pengo 172. 161. 31 brought forward from last year closed with net profits of Pengo 1, 794. 346. 41 (as against Pengő 1, 525. 439. 22 in the first half of the business year 1929). These increased profits indicate the semi-annual yield in connection with the fully paid up 100. 000 new shares issued according to the increase of capital decided in July 1929, whereas the effects of the transaction with the AngloInternational Bank will he only felt in the second half year. Disregarding the natural increase of profits resulting from the increase of capital carried through last year, the results are about the same as during the first half of 1929, which may be said to be satisfactory considering the unfavourable economic conditions. The above profits exclusively indicate the results of the regular general banking business, the results of extraordinary financial transactions are not being included. The main items of the Balance Sheet now stated are the following as compared with the sefhi-annual Balance sheet as of June 30th, 1929, and with the annual Balance Sheet as of December 31st, 1929: June30th Dec. 31st Jurie30th 1929 1929 1930 in 1000 Pi ngő Cash in hand... The development of the business lines of the bank (with the exception of the Stock Exchange business) is also indicated in the considerably enlarged turnover figures. The several items of the Balance Sheet prove the increased liquidity of the bank which appears to be required by the insecurity of the general economie position a the present time.
