V. Černelč-Marjanović, D. Vedrina, I. Čukman-Batinić, Integracija elektroničkih dokumenata u spisovodstvo DZIV-a, Arh. vjesn., god. 44 (2001), str. 175-181 With respect to the existing regulations, the State Intellectual Property Office modernised its records management in accordance with latest technological achievements, keeping most of its registers in electronic form. The system included correspondence registers of all sent or received administrative and non-administrative records, with additional scanning of these records, thus enabling the complete integration of electronic documents into the Office's recordkeeping procedures. The work process is also modernised in the way that almost all office workers are provided with computers and appropriate software. It is necessary to accentuate that the World Intelectual Property Organization, in co-operation with its members, developed standards for the intellectual property records, data reference coding and data exchange, same as for the work methodology, recommanding their use to its members. Working on the recordkeeping system, State Intellectual Property Office followed those recommandations, respecting, at the same time, the assumptions of informatics, existing Croatian legislation in the field of intelectual property and Office's jurisdiction, and claims of administrative procedure. By this, Office opened the way to the acceptance and inclusion of its electronic documents into the world intelectual property system and made, at the same time, a slight adaptation to the claims of developing electronic commerce and exchange. Development and adoption of new working methods, adjusted to the technological and communicational changes, is a necessary prerequsite and imperative for the co-operation of business organizations, i.e. for their prompt inclusion into the business processes in the country and abroad. Experiences of the State Intellectual Property Office are very positive, and might be encouraging for other business organizations to join modern trends.
