Summary THE DOCUMENTATION SYSTEM OF THE CROATIAN CINEMATHEQUE Presented here is one of the possibilities of documentation of very diverse material kept at the Cinematheque and based on the practical work in developing a system of documentational handling and following the contemporary changes that arise in the development of the system of deposition, handling, search and dissemination of audio-visual documents. The text is based upon a previously elaborated evidential system at the Croatin Cinematheque, approved by the Croatian Archival Council. Its starting point is the necessity for a clearer definition of the type of material entering a film archive under a common title -film material-, and represents a group of diverse documents the base of which is a film work or information on its origin and existance. Based on the characteristics of certain types of material, suggested is the way of its handling in accordance with existing formats and standards accepted in international information exchange. By choice of data the connection between material is maintained, and its description is done through several levels which enables the choice of the depth of description of each document to be handled, at he same time ensuring its sense and wholeness which further ensures research and gives enough detail for generating necessary evidence and catalogization. Examples of documentation cards for the description of each type of documents that is part of the film material are added to the text for. The summary translated into Dubravko Pajalić 49
