NJ With the end of the Lenten season, our spiritual focus turned toward Holy Week and Easter. On Ash Wednesday our congregation joined with the St. Anthony Parish in Port Reading and the First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge for an Ecumenical Service gathering spiritual strength for Lent. In our Sunday worship services during Lent we have examined the miracles of Jesus. On Palm Sunday we commemorated Jesus' Triumphant entry into Jerusalem, and He was greeted with palm branches. We distributed palm leaves and joined together with those who greeted Jesus with "Loud Hosannas." On Good Friday we gathered under the cross with a Tenebrae Service "A Service of Darkness," depicting special moments of Jesus' suffering. On Easter Sunday, our church was filled with worshippers to hear the "Good News" of the resurrection. Holy Communion was observed. On April 22nd we commemorated the 50th anniversary of the dedication of our present sanctuary, and dedicated our new church bulletin board, followed by a special brunch served in our Fellowship Hall. In the next issue of the Calvin Synod Herald we will include further detials and pictures of the event. Our special guest for this occasion was the former pastor of the congregation, the Rev. Albert W. Kovács Hungarian Reformed Church of Lorain. Ohio UCC The New Year brings many more celebrations for our congregation. The most important is the celebration of our 110th Anniversary. Our Special Service and Banquet will be held on October 27th, 2012. Men’s Brotherhood and the Busy Martha Guild continue to meet each month, Sunday School attendance has increased and fundraisers of our cultural foods abound. Passaic.
