4 CALVIN SYNOD HERALD Sunday morning's Guest Speaker, Rt. Rev. Louis Medgyesi spoke on Evangelism. He had a great presentation. Evangelism is a testimony of our faith. Faith is not a possession but a gift from God. We should continually urge others to believe in the Trinity - "God, the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit," and to believe in the hope God's word gives us daily in our lives. The meeting was closed with a Divine Worship Service in Moriah Chapel at 11:30 a.m. The Service and Lord's Supper were led by Rev. Gabor Nitsch, Rt. Rev. Louis Medgyesi and Rev. Imre Bertalan assisting with the Lord's Supper. We thank the Bethlen Communities for the hospitality. We look forward to seeing you at next year's meeting. Respectfully submitted by Wilburn A. Respectfully submitted, Jill Pongracz Murrell, Committee Chair American Hungarian Reformed Ministerial Association Right Reverend Koloman Karl Ludwig, President 7319 Tapper Avenue - Hammond, IN 46324-2713 219-931-4321 Guvemul Romaniei 27 August 2012 Prime Minister Victor Ponta Piata Victorieu nr. 1, sector 1, Bucuresti, Romania Your Excellency: We are the American Hungarian Reformed Ministerial Association, uniting Hungarian Reformed ministers in the United States of America and Canada, meeting at Ligonier, Pennsylvania. While we are far from our ministerial colleagues and members of the Reformed Churches in Romania, we have heard of their plight due to the denial of their rights as equal citizens of Romania. A new urgency has aroused our concern by the recent imprisonment in Romania of the three members of the Special Committee on Church Property Restitution, for three years of confinement, because they acted under the law to arrange for the return to former ownership of the Szekely Miko Reformed High School in Sfantu Gheorghe (Sepsiszentgyorgy) to its rightful owner, following upon its unlawful seizure by the former Communist government. Our concern for them as human beings unjustly convicted and imprisoned, with its contingent consequences for their families now and their future, adds to the necessity for our involvement and pleas on their behalf. We have been aware for years of the Romanian government’s resistance in the return of confiscated properties, including many schools and colleges, to the ownership and control of the Reformed Churches. We have watched with hope the passage of laws to follow through with this, but at every turn a concurrent refusal to implement the same laws. We have been aware of the constant prodding by the Parliament of the European Union, and the persistent failure of Romania to honor its promises, in the fulfillment of its obligations and duties toward its minorities, made in its application for membership. We are also aware of its promises, still unfilled, in seeking most favored nation status from the United States government. We respectfully ask the Romanian government to set free the Special Committee members, to drop all fines and charges against the Transylvanian Reformed Church District in connection with the Szekely Miko Reformed High School, and insure that it remains in possession of its rightful ownership with the Reformed churches. Respectfully yours, President Cc: Reformed Churches of the United States Reformed Churches of Canada Parliament of the European Union Senators and Congressmen USA
