CONGREGATIONAL and CALVIN SYNOD NEWS FIRST HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH - Cleveland, OH hosted a congratulatory luncheon for Rev. Dr. Csaba G. Krasznai on Saturday, March 6 in honor of earning his Doctor of Ministry degree. For more information and photographs, please see inside. Many blessings on the ministry of Rev. Dr. Krasznai and the Congregation as they continue to serve God and each other! FIRST HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH -Homestead, PA joyfully celebrated the 80th birthday of their pastor, Rev. Alexander Jalso as well as his and Mrs. Jalso’s 50th Wedding Anniversary on February 21. May God continue to bless the lives of Rev. and Mrs. Jalso! Additionally, on Palm Sunday, March 28, the Zamberry Family donated a palm basket flower arrangement that was placed in front of the Lord’s Table. The basket contained a dried palm cross and living palm branches. Every member of the Congregation received a living palm branch and the remaining arrangement was then taken to a shut-in Congregation member as a gift and brought much joy to all. FIRST HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH, Pittsburgh PA held two Easter Sunday Worship Services, one in English the other in Hungarian. Additionally, Congregation members ordered Easter flowers in memory of loved ones to decorate the church. Also, the CT Scanner for Beregszász is a cause for which the Congregation continues to raise funds and encourages all those who can to please join them in the efforts to help our Magyar brethren in that part of the world. HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH, Fairport Harbor, OH participated in the Fairport Harbor Community Palm Sunday Ecumenical Service on March 28, which was held this year at Zion Lutheran Church. Additionally, the Congregation held a Good Friday Worship Service at 7 PM on April 2 and two Easter Sunday Worship Services on April 4, one in English the other in Hungarian. On April 11 the Sunday School participated in the Worship Service. Other events in the life of the Congregation included a kolbász sale on March 20 and Women’s Fellowship activities such as a Coffee Social between Hungarian and English Services on March 7, a Chicken Paprikas Dinner on March 13 and a Carry-Out and Sit-Down Dinner on April 17. THE ANNUAL YOUTH CAMP Planning Meeting and Counselor Retreat took place March 19-21 at Scenic View, PA.
