CONGREGATIONAL and CALVIN SYNOD NEWS FIRST HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH, New York, NY held their Annual Church Picnic on June 27 with an Outdoor Sermon in F.D. Roosevelt State Park. During July several Sunday Bible Classes were held in Central Park. In August the Youth Bible class took a break when the Pastor left for vacation. For more regarding this Congregation please see also: www.nv69ref.com FIRST HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH, Pittsburgh, PA held their 11 AM Worship on July 26 at the Bethlen Home Chapel in Ligonier, PA. Afterward the Congregation attended the Annual Bethlen Communities Picnic. Church Council Meetings resumed on September 13 after a break for summer vacation. HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH, Fairport Harbor, OH held an Indoor Picnic & Potluck Fellowship on June 7 and an Outdoor Church Service and Picnic Fellowship on August 9 after both worship services. Beverages, meat, bread and more were provided. Attendees brought pot­­luck meals and shared. HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH, Johnstown-Windber, PA observed the 500th Birthday Anniversary of John Calvin on July 19. Rt. Rev. Koloman Karl Ludwig, Bishop preached. HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH, Lorain, OH hosted the District Conference of Presbyters & Church Workers on August 8. For more on this conference see Rev. Bertalan article inside. MANVILLE REFORMED CHURCH, Manville, NJ continues to raise funds to help Jake Whitenight, the 2 year old son of church members, get the surgery he needs. NORRIDGE UNITED CHURCH of CHRIST, Norridge, IL held the 2nd Annual Gulyás Festival and Contest on their church grounds on July 11 and 12. For pictures and more regarding this event see inside. PRESBYTERIAN REFORMED CHURCH, Manassas, VA on Sun­days during June, July and August offered a class titled The Introduction to the Church. The subject matter was the practice of our Reformed faith and the instructor was Pastor Edwin P. Elliott, Jr. WEST SIDE HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH, Cleveland, OH collected $330 for the Medical Fund of Jake Whitenight (Manville Reformed Church). The 63rd Annual Conference of the American-Hungarian Reformed Presbyter’s Association took place on August 22-23, 2009 at the Bethlen Communities in Ligonier. In attendance were representatives of Calvin Synod churches, including members of the consistory as well as presbyter or church council members along with their families and guests. Members of the Ministerial Association were also present. Rev. Chuck Huckaby spoke on The Reformed Elder - Biblical Basis and also on The Reformed Elder in the Postmodern Parish.
