6 CALVIN SYNOD HERALD Continued from page 5 The Priesthood of All Believers Rev. Lisa Marie Kerestesi Ordination Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Lk 10:2 NIV) We pastors do not have enough “workers,” lay members we could share our ministry with. One of our very important tasks is to find more effective tools and methods of lay leadership training and equipping for our lay members. If our congregations educate and bring up well trained laity, the church ministries - such as leading worship services, small group Bible studies, prayer groups, caring for the homeless, the hungry, supporting Christian organizations and missionaries, arranging and taking care of the finances of the church - would be more effective and attractive. Our American Hungarian Reformed churches need to think about or reconsider how to share the ministries within our congregations and find godly and gifted lay people who will be equipped and trained for this cause. Pastors, presbyters and church members could help and support one another in the harvest and ministries given by the Lord Jesus Christ. Rev. Csaba Krasznai WORKS CITED: Calvin, Jean. 1960. Lisa Marie Kerestesi was ordained into the Christian Ministry by Calvin Synod on Saturday, July 11th at The First Hungarian Reformed Church of Homestead, Munhall, Pennsylvania. Lisa graduated from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and has been affiliated with the Homestead congregation. She just finished her graduate education and is now also a certified schoolteacher. Lisa has been a “Licensed” minister with Calvin Synod and was “In Care” for the past year. She has been active in church work over the years. This past spring she was officially “Called” as Assistant Pastor of the Homestead congregation. Lisa has served in the pulpit both there and in other congregations, most notably she substituted for Rev. Ilona Komjáthy during her recent illness last year. Participating in the Ordination Service were Calvin Synod ministers Rt. Rev. Koloman Karl Ludwig, Bishop; Rt. Rev. Joseph Vásárhelyi, Auxiliary Bishop; Rev. Imre A. Bertalan, Dean of the Central Classis; Rev. Ilona Komjáthy, Rev. Albert W. Kovács, Rev. Gabor Nitsch, and Rev. Dr. Joseph Posta. Joining us from the Hungarian Reformed Church in America was Rev. Dr. Daniel J. Borsay. Also participating in the Service was Mrs. Lisa S. Toth-Maskarinec, Synod Treasurer. Following a beautiful worship service, the serving ministers were joined by two additional clergy in attendance, who were invited by the Bishop for the “laying on of hands” at the end of the Ordination Service. The large celebrating gathering continued with fellowship in the church hall, where a banquet awaited them. The service was so moving to Lisa’s grandmother that she confessed to Lisa that she was never baptized. Thus two weeks later, on July 25th, Lisa performed her first Baptism. Welcome to our new colleague! Rt. Rev. Koloman Karl Ludwig, Bishop Pictured front row, (1-r): Rt. Rev. Joseph Vásárhelyi, Auxiliary Bishop, Rev. Lisa Marie Kerestesi, Rt. Rev.
