12 CALVIN SYNOD HERALD Playing Play-Doh Charades Serious Fun - Cultivating an Attitude of Gratitude and other materials available for them to flesh out their ideas. The things chosen were nurses, Frank Király, the Trenton Church and You. The presentations were funny and touching. At 8:30 PM the pizza arrived and swiftly disappeared. Then it was out to the fire. The weather forecast had called for rain but God in His mercy kept it away and although there was a chill in the air, being near that fire kept us plenty warm. At the end of the evening we went back into the bam for a short Vesper Service and concluded our day with prayers, praise and thanks-giving - then off to the hotels and homes for a good nights’ sleep. Sunday morning found us back in the bam at 10 AM for Worship Service. We began with singing praise and worship songs. Our group is definitely a singing group. After some Scripture readings it was time for the message. I selected Ephesians 2:1-4 as the Scripture and the title was “Recalculating”. Using the word heard by anyone who has ever used a GPS system and taken a wrong turn, the message took us to how God has a path for each of us to take. And when we stray from that path - it is His Holy Spirit that calls to our hearts and minds to “recalculate” and get back on track. Our Worship ended with song. During the beginning of the Service each person was given a piece of paper. During the offering they wrote out anything they wanted to offer to God. Some wrote to ask for His help in a sin, a habit, a concern, a hurt. Others wrote prayers. And some wrote something simply in thanks-giving for all that He gives us. After more prayer and song we placed the papers in the fire where they were consumed and only God and the writer knew what was on them. After that, we returned to the bam for lunch. The weekend ends so quickly and before we know it there are many goodbyes, hugs, smiles and “when will we see each other again?”b tfo Those I Love If I should ever heave you, Whom I hove To go along the silent way...
