CALVIN SYNOD HERALD 11 A LIVELY SUMMER IN LIGONIER Slipping into the fall and winter seasons, a look back reminds of a hugely eventful 2005 Bethlen Communities’* summer. The big story was the June 28 grand opening of our new nursing home replacement facility. Features include: long- and short-term skilled nursing and rehabilitation, dementia specialty care, country kitchens & living rooms, a gift shop, private party rooms, a breathtaking panoramic view of Ligonier Valley, and so much more. In addition, we adopted a new logo, one that attempts to illustrate the strong, caring, faith-based past, present, and future of Bethlen Communities. See the logo at our brand-new Web site, www.bethlen.com, which offers a comprehensive look into Bethlen Communities. An exciting feature coming soon to the site will be an alumni link. There, we hope to give the individuals we have served a chance to communicate, reminisce, and reunite. Our list of summer accomplishments also included numerous community-oriented events. In June, for example, we hosted several open houses, which invited the public to visit the new Bethlen Home Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center before her grand opening. July brought the very successful Golf Tournament sponsored by the HRFAand Bethlen Communities. Proceeds from that event benefited Bethlen Home’s Therapy Department. The tournament was followed by the Annual Hungarian Picnic, which featured outstanding food, music, and fellowship. We also had the honor of celebrating a 100th birthday. Bethlen Home resident Anna Harding was bom on July 24, 1905. We pray for God’s continued blessings on Anna. September 25 brings another 100th birthday! This special day belongs to Aline Hoffman, a Ligonier Gardens resident. We send her birthday wishes as well. Finally, Labor Day is not only the unofficial end of summer, but also the day of the new Bethlen Home’s formal dedication. Bethlen Communities looks forward to again hosting the annual Presbyters Association and Ministerial Association meetings, September 4-6. Support from friends, dedication from staff and volunteers, and the grace of God made and continues to make this period of growth triumphant. Let us always remember that we must climb the mountain to see the view. A special thanks to all who climb with us. Formal Dedication of the Bethlen Home Dear Friends and Supporters of the Bethlen Communities! On Tuesday, June 28th, the residents of Bethlen Home moved from our old facility into the new! We thank God, and we thank the staff, family members and volunteers for all their commitment and energy. The move went smoothly and was completed in less than three hours. On the occasion of the annual Presbyters and Ministerial Association meetings, we will worship together in the new building’s Linden Room at 11:00 AM on that day, and dedicate the new building to the glory of God, and to the service of God’s children. We hope many friends and supporters can be present then, too. Thank you, everyone, once again. It has been a long journey, but life is made up of these journeys. I’m sure this won’t be the last important journey here in Ligonier. There are other plans just on the horizon! But for now, we will celebrate and give thanks to God. May God continue to be with you and bless you! Rev. Imre A.
