6 CALVIN SYNOD HERALD (Continued from page 5 - Highlights) he indicated that there is the possibility of an “open enrollment” for Calvin Synod ministers into their insurance and retirement program. This is due to their recognition that Calvin Synod ministers have historically been lacking in insurance and retirement plans, and the Pension Boards wants to be proactive in this issue for the benefit of our clergy. The Synod passed a resolution Honoring Rt. Rev. Dr. Francis Vitéz during its session. Finally, at the evening Annual Banquet Appreciation Certificates presented to the following persons: The Rev. Hungarian Reformed Youth Camp 2005 July 24 through July 29 are the dates of our Annual Youth Camp this year. The theme of our Camp is “Treasures in Heaven.” This year promises to be another excellent camping experience, and you are encouraged to make it possible for your youth to attend. Our Summer Hungarian Reformed Youth Camp is the one time in the year your young people will have the opportunity to be in a social setting where they will be with like-minded youth, and have the chance to share their faith in a non-threatening setting. The wonder of this experience is that they will discover that there are others who are on a faith journey, learning about who they are, learning about the mysteries of God, and the promises of Christ and His saving grace. In an atmosphere of the enjoyment of camp, they have the opportunity to share their own faith with others, to ask questions, to be taken seriously as young Christians, and as a result, to grow in their faith. Over the past years, those of us who have had the opportunity to interact with these young Christians at camp have seen miracles, both small and great, as Christ has touched the lives of these people, and they have made discoveries about who they are, and what the “faith of THEIR fathers” can mean in their lives. Encourage your children to attend: if you don’t have children in your congregation, think seriously about making a donation to the Camp so that some of those who would like to go but can’t because of the cost might attend on a scholarship through the thoughtfulness of other Christians - through your generosity! Our Camp will again be at the Laurelville Mennonite Church Center in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, near Ligonier - a beautiful setting. The cost this year is $225.00, registrations are requested by July 1,2005. Rt. Rev. Koloman K. Ludwig, Bishop INVOCATION Rev. Albert W. Kovács 50th Anniversary Gala Ball American Hungarian Foundation Saturday -21 May 2005 - Hyatt Regency Hotel New Brunswick, New Jersey O Mighty Creator, whose universe stands as testimony to Your awesome power and wisdom, to whom the fleeting time of humanity’s age-old history is as a wisp among the clouds of stars light years away in the galaxies of space: At this celebration marking fifty long years of the commitment, endeavors and cooperation of so many in the history of the American Hungarian Foundation, we pause tonight to reflect upon their accomplishments, and in a small way to express our gratitude for all their efforts and for the many benefactors who have brought this work to our use and enjoyment. Even as the prophet has urged us to look to the quarry from which we were dug, with these collected works of many kinds and sources to enable us and future generations to look backward in time, we ask You our Lord to bless us through the many years ahead with the virtue of appreciation for those varied lives and contributions from our heritage that collectively make up our history. Grant us insight to see and be inspired by the worthy values and skillful use of the talents, from the most mundane to the culturally elevated, of those who came here from roots in their storied Hungarian homeland, then also of their posterity in this land who have added lustre to name American Hungarian; and which, alongside those of other goodly roots, have made this nation of immigrants a leader in the cause of freedom, asserting the worth of every human being of Your creation. Now let our festivities serve as a tribute to the years of leadership which have led to this day, and mark our commitment to continue to build worthily upon our cherished foundations in our varied lives and families, faith traditions and artistic domains, as good citizens and world neighbors, that to us each and all You may grant Your blessings: Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish Thou the work of our hands upon us, yea, the work of our hands establish Thou it. Amen.-Psalm 90:17
