Nitsch was re-elected to represent the Calvin Synod on the Bethlen Home Board of Directors, for the next four years. He is also the alternate delegate to the UCC General Synod. New Conference Council Congratulations and prayers for God’s guidance and blessings to the new slate of officers elected to the Conference Council of the Calvin Synod during the Annual Meeting that took place on May 25-28 in Somerset, Pennsylvania: Rt. Rev. Koloman K. Ludwig (Indiana) - Bishop Rt. Rev. Joseph Vásárhelyi (New Jersey) - Auxiliary Bishop Rev. Zoltán Siittö (Michigan) - Secretary Mrs. Janet Lawton (Ohio) - Treasurer Mr. James D. Balias (Connecticut) - Synod Presbyter Dear Friends: Grace to you and peace from our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Since returning from the Annual Meeting of the Calvin Synod the last week of May, 1 have reflected on many of the things I saw there. I was happy to see so many delegates this year, and especially glad that the quality of our attendees was something to be proud of. Our congregations have a wealth of dedicated Christians in their midst. This year Calvin Synod elected a new Conference Council, and I believe your faith in those whom you elected is not misplaced. Our new Synod Treasurer, Janet Lawton, has been a dedicated member of the Columbus, Ohio congregation for many years and has been active on the Classis level also. Rev. Joseph Vásárhelyi has been in the ministry, and associated with Calvin Synod, for a number of years also, and now pastors the Passaic, New Jersey, congregation. You reelected Mr. James Balias of Bridgeport, Connecticut, as your Synod Presbyter following three years of dedication on his part in his first term. And you also reelected Rev. Zoltán Siittö of Davison, Michigan, as your General Secretary. We are committed and dedicated to serve you and Calvin Synod and Jesus our Lord during our terms in office, and intend to do so in the Spirit of Christ and being guided by the Love which he introduced into the world. Paul says it best in 1 Corinthians: without love, we are a “noisy gong or a clanging cymbal, " we are "nothing. ” And then he goes on to tell us what love IS: “Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. ” I invite you to join us, and emphasize Christ’s message of “Love" in every decision you make and every thought you have, so that he will always be present in your lives. Rt. Rev. Koloman K. Ludwig, Bishop The newly elected Conference Council being sworn in at the 66th Annual Synod Meeting in Somerset, PA. Rt. Rev. Koloman Ludwig, Rt. Rev. Joseph Vásárhelyi, Janet Lawton, James Balias, Rev. Zoltán Siittö We also wish to thank the Rt. Rev. Louis Medgyesi (former Bishop) and Mr. Wilburn A. Roby (former Treasurer), who have faithfully served the Calvin Synod in their respective roles with diligence, hard work, and obedience to the word of God during their allotted terms in office.
