8 CALVIN SYNOD HERALD A karácsonyi Kisded szeretete kozzon békességet mindnyájunk szivébe, úgy az ünnepek alatt, mint az elkövetkező'esztendőben! May you have a B lessed Christmas and a Happy Nerv Year! WILLIAM PENN ASSOCIATION Fraternal Life Insurance and Annuities 709 Brighton Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15233 Phone: (412) 231-2979 or 1-800-848-PENN (7366) FAX: (412) 231-8535 A Christmas Prayer Almighty King of the saints in glory, Lord of the angelic host, we have heard their glad song proclaiming the Savior’s birth, and its echo down through the ages in Your churches and our homes. We join our voices now in Your praise: Glory to God in the highest! The good news of the birth of Your Son awakens us to the true gift of Christmas morn, life in Christ now on earth and in all eternity. Who should be happier than us, 0 Father? You have known all about our sinful ways, and still You have come among us with saving grace. Shamed by our offensive ways - we have hurt those we should have loved and ignored You in many ways - we are awful, whom You made good. Who of us would dare to ask of You what we deserve, no less Your blessings? But You have given us what we could not ask for, Your forgiveness, mercy and love. At this holy time we come to You, bringing our only worthy gifts, indeed, all our love. Bind us into the Body of Christ, Your Son’s holy Church, through which we have heard the old, old story which has led us also to You today. Speak to us anew in the divine scriptures, that we all might discover Your word for this generation. Be present in the bread and the wine, as true nourishment for our souls, lest we wither away as broken off branches. Inspire Your ministers of the word as they proclaim the gospel, and raise up others in Your churches to take up the cross for the sake of the generation to follow. Send us forth as Your workers in all the world, so we may sow and reap the harvest of others who join the faithful in Your service and praise. In the celebrations we all enjoy so much. 0 Lord, strengthen our families. Guard us from the thinking and culture that would diminish those precious ties, condoning those immoral ways abominable in Your sight, which beget living hell and deny entrance to Your kingdom. So touch wives and husbands that their love increases year by year, and bless their children with caring homes, big loving families, and happy friends. Yet one thing more, 0 God, for we ask blessings for those with whom we have trouble, who hate our ways or may be our enemies, and for those whom we don’t know but sorely need Your special favor. We pray for those living in illness or deprivation, the hungry and homeless, and all who mourn. We would even beg that the enslaved might be set free, the oppressed relieved of fear, and wars may cease. Guard those who defend our nation, those engaged in the cause of liberation in foreign lands, and return them quickly to their families who long for their safe return. Hear our humble prayer, 0 Lord, and grant us Your peace, through our Lord Emmanuel, the eternal Messiah, Your Son Jesus. Amen.--------------------------------------------------------------------------N ORDERBLANK - MEGRENDELŐLAP Rev. Albert W. Kovács 94 N.
