CALVIN SYNOD HERALD- 8 -AMERIKAI MAGYAR REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA A Bible Kiddle Here is a riddle that was written by a lady in California in response to an offer from a man in Philadelphia. He said he would give $1000 to anyone who could write a riddle that he could not solve. The gentleman failed to do so and had to pay. The answer is a five letter word appearing only three to four times in the Bible (KJV). If you solve the riddle on the first guess, you are a Bible genius. If you find the answer at all, you are a good Bible scholar. Adam, God made out of dust, but thought it best to make me first So I was made before man, to answer God’s most holy plan. A living being I became; and Adam gave to me my name. From his presence I withdrew and more about Adam I never knew. I did the Maker’s law obey, nor did I ever go astray. Thousands of miles I go in fear, but seldom on earth do I appear. For purpose wise which God did see, He put a living sould in me. A soul from me God did claim, and took from me the soul again. So when from me the soul did flee, I was the same as when He first made me And without hands or feet or soul, I travel from pole to pole. I labor hard by day and night, to fallen man giving great light No right or wrong can I conceive, the scripture, I cannot believe. Although my name therein found, they are to me an empty soul. No fear of death doth troubles me, real happiness I’ll never see. To heaven I shall never go, nor will I enter Hell below. Now when these lines you slowly read, go search your Bible with all speed. For that my name is written there, I do honestly to you declare! This poem above is a challenge to our Calvin Synod Herald readers, who are all - as we expect - steady readers of the Bible, “The Book of Life.” The solution to this Riddle will be printed in our next Issue. to him who overcomes, i will give the crowd of Life. OBTAIN THE UNFADING CROWN OF GLORY! HOLD FAST WHAT YOU HAVE, LET NO ONE ROB You of Your croWni BE FAITHFUL TILL DEATH, AND I WILL GIVE YOU THE CROWN OF LIFE! We leave his mark We leave His mark on each kind deed that we bestow on those in need. We leave His mark when we show we care for a lonely soul who has known despair. We leave His mark on each bright day that we have chosen to pave to the way. We sing the praises of Heaven above as we spread the joys and hope and love. Catherine Janssen
