Bridgeport, CT - Our congregation at Bridgeport finally elected its new pastor in the person of Rev Tamás Karla. He entered into the pastorate of our historic church, which formerly had two of our bishops as pastors: Rev. Stephen Böszörményi (Bessemer) and Dr. John Bütösi. oao Our Synodical Council had its most important meeting on December 2nd and 3rd. This was followed by the UCC committee meeting on December 4th in Cleveland, Ohio. Our prayers will be with our Synodical leaders conscientiously working on recommendations to our next Annual Synodical Meeting regarding the most essential existential problems of our constituting congregations. Next May our elected delegates will again enter into the “Valley of Decisions" - by no means for the first time - in our turbulent history. Let the Holy Spirit inspire, lead and guide those into whose loving care our congregations are entrusted! Cleveland, Ohio West Side Celebrated Its 90th Anniversary On October 27th (the Sunday before Reformation Day), our congregation on the West Side of the City, which, under the leadership of Rev. Szabolcs Kálmán, became the “pride and joy” of our Synodical family once again, had a magnificent celebration with a solemn service that ended with Holy Communion. The service was done in unforgettable splendor with 12 ministers participating. The presentation of Liszt’s “Christus Oratorium" by an excellent United Choir under the direction of Zsuzsa Kálmán, was the highlight of the occasion. A great banquet followed the service in the Kálvin Hall of the church, with most delicious food served by the ladies of the congregation. The banquet program was also done with great dignity for the unequalled pleasure of the capacity audience filling the huge hall for this historic event.
