CALVIN SYNOD HERALD 3 AMERIKAI MAGYAR REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA Forth-Coming Events i. OUR ANNUAL SYNOD MEETING '96 SYNOD MEETING -The days of May 21-24 were set aside for the Annual Meeting this year, in Ligonier, PA at the Ramada Inn. The fifthyeight Annual Meeting of the Calvin Synod, Conference of the United Church of Christ, will be held from the 21st of May to the 24th in Ligonier, PA. This is the constitutional meeting of our congregations with legisltive, administrative and jurisdictional powers invested in our Synod for the benefit of all local congregations. This year's meeting will again be an historical meeting with a very important and heavy agenda. The opening service will be followed by Holy Communion. Our democratic system of church government operates through the balanced power of elected ministerial and lay delegates from all our local congregations based in ten states in America. It is indeed extremely important that all lay delegates (one from each congregation) should accompany the pastor for this legislative meeting. The Bishop's usual letter with all details was sent to all congregations. □□□ The months of May and June bring us some of the warmest occasions to remember. May 12 is Mother's Day May 26 is Memorial Sunday and Pentecost Sunday, the birthday of the Church, June 16 is Father's Day. It is more than proper to convey in this Issue some illuminating glimpses to lead our thoughts and prayers in this season of remembering HOME, NATION and CHURCH. THE ANNUAL YOUTH CAMP AND CONFERENCE will be held on the last week of July, 1996. All congregations are asked to send their youth delegations to that important gathering together with the youth of the Reformed Church in America. □□□ THE HUNGARIAN REFORMED FEDERATION OF AMERICA will observe the 100th Anniversary or their founding in 1996, followed by 35th quadrennial convention.
