CALVIN SYNOD HERALD-3 -REFOMÁTÜSOK LAPJA [ The "Light Through The Bars11 In the year 1992, in Budapest, the "John Calvin" publishing hand of the Reformed Church of Hungary printed a Hungarian version of Transylvanian Bishop Kálmán Csiha's book, Fény a Rácsokon. It is the story of the Bishop's six and a half years of imprisonment by the Romanian Communist regime. It is a unique publication with immortal poems. The English translation is under printing procedures at the present time. The Light Through The Bars will be a sensational publication. For this Christmas of 1994, we are publishing the English version of this Christmas poem for the first time, which he wrote behind the bars of JHava Prison on Christmas, 1962. Prison poem by Bishop Kálmán Csiha of Kolozsvár, Transylvania Eleven days more yet, the angel will touch ground, On mysterious wings with angel-hair around, On velvety, bright night will chime the Christmas bells, The Dream will land on earth, comes here and here it dwells. Eleven days more yet and comes the shine of lights, Star-sprinklers will then blaze on the glittering nights, Spell-bound will flicker all small children 's eyes, Jesus will be knocking on heart-windows of guys. Five Christmas-times now has had deserted my dreams, Five Christmases did pass and gone by without gleams. Five years... walking allnight so late in December, My heart on Christmas Eve is a glazing ember. With tears, in You trusting, falling on my knees bent, Knowing Your immense grace to me yet will still grant That once in this life yet on glistening Christmas Eve I shall see my orphan-child, and this I do believe! May you and those you love be blessed by the power of Faith throughout the Hew Year! "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God!" How we need the things impossible in this suddenly changing world in the remaining years of this last decade of this century before we enter the next, the twenty-ßrst?!
