CALVIN SYNOD HERALD- 2 -REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA CALVIN SYNOD NEWS PAST EVENTS Youth Camp. Our Youth Camp was held in Laurelville, PA from August 9-15. The 1992 Season, August 9-15, Youth Conference of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America and the Calvin Synod Conference, United Church of Christ’s Theme, was Exploring Eternity (John 17:3). The Directors were Rev. Louis Medgyesi and Miss Priscilla Hunyady. ★ ★ ★ On September 6. 7. 8 & 9 — Church Workers Conference and Ministerial meeting was held for Hungarian pastors in Ligonier, PA. These traditional Ligonier Meetings of Church Workers and Ministers are always held on days following Labor Sunday. All these events were well attended and successful. COMING EVENTS Fall - Lakeside Section Conference - Rev. Armand Weller will be our main speaker at our Fall Presbyters’ and Workers Conference on Sunday, September 27th at the West Side Hungarian Reformed Church. His theme will be “Training Church Leaders the Way Jesus Did.” The Lorain (Ohio) Church celebrates 90th Anniversary The Lorain Hungarian Reformed Church (U.C.C.) is celebrating it’s 90th ANNIVERSARY on Sunday, September 20, 1992. To commemorate this occasion the entire Sunday will be devoted to this event. Communion will be served at both the Hungarian Worship Service (9:00 A.M.) and the English Worship Service (10:30 A.M.). The Anniversary Celebration Service will begin at 4:30 P.M. with Holy Communion. A dinner will be served by the ladies of the Church at 6:30 P.M., followed by a short program at 7:30 P.M. They plan to include every pastor in the Anniversary Service, who will be able to attend. The pastor of the celebrating church is the Rt. Rev. Zoltán D. Sziics, currently bishop of Calvin Synod; the General Chairman is Mr. Julius A. Pongracz. The New Pastor of Pittsburgh, PA. Rev. Gabor Tamas Curriculum Vitae Egy bakonyi kis faluban, Szentgálon születtem 1949. január 3-án. Éedsapam szabó mester, édesanyám porcelán-festó. Hugóm és öcsém tartoznak még a közvetlen családhoz. Középiskolába Veszprémben jártam (Lovassy László Gimnázium), majd kétéves katonaság után nyertem felvételt a Budapesti Theológiai Akadémiára. Jó tanulmányi eredményeim és nyelvtudásom következtében skóciai ösztöndíjat kaptam és az Edinburgh-i New College-ban tanulhattam 1974-75-ben. Szolgálati helyeim: Monor-Nagytemplom, Zsinati Iroda Külügyi Osztály Budapest, Abony, Budapest Külsö- Kelenföld, Budapest Gazdagrét, (ez utóbbinak alapitó és szervező-lelkésze is voltam). Ez év telén San Franciscóban jártunk egy baráti látogatáson, itt ért utol bennünket a Pittsburghi Első Magyar Református Egyház meghívása és a Mindenható Isten elhívása. A nyugdíjazás miatt megüresedett lelkészi állást ez év május 11-én foglaltam el, a Központi Egyházmegye pedig junius 26-án tartott ülésén esperesének választott. Az első házasságomból két gyermekem van (Laura és Dávid, 8 és 11 évesek), mostani feleségem Ágota, foglalkozása gyógypedagógus. RESUMÉ Name: Rev.
