CALVIN SYNOD HERALD- 8 -REFORMÁTUSOK LAPJA A Little Brown School House There's a little brown school house upon a green hill. This picture is fresh in my memory still. This is the place, oh, it it only could say. How happy I was there in my childhood way! My teacher who taught me was patient and kind; On books and lessons we kept our mind. Oh, well I remember my school friends dear. But fate has parted us year by year. My father since then did to eternal rest ascend— Also, my childhood days are gone; But the little brown school house upon a hill green Still proudly faces the rosy dawn. There's a little brown school house upon a green hill. But the mill in the area is rusty and still. When going to school. I gayly did trip; Pausing in awe at the creaking mill whip. The splash and gurgles of the crystal stream Can no longer be heard, nor can be seen. The large chiming bell which to school me did call Is still pealing with mirth as it did of yore. Whatever I do, wherever I travel. That same striking picture in my mind does unravel Of the little brown school house upon a green hill. There's a little brown school house upon a hill green. If only it could talk of the days it has seen! As these lines are written they remind me, dear friend That school-day memories will linger to the end. No worries, no troubles, no thoughts that are dreary Enter one's heart, nor make it weary. If life has tried you as it has tried me. We both shall agree that we love to see The happy, care-free children going to the Little brown school house upon a green hill Where next to this place is a feeble old mill.
