Albert William Kovács was installed as the ninth pastor of the Hun­garian Reformed Church in Woodbridge, New Jersey, on September 22. The rite of Installation was conducted by the Rt. Rev. Zoltán D. Szucs, Bishop of the Calvin Synod, who was assisted by the Rev. Dr. Francis Vitéz, Dean of the Eastern Classis. More than 125 attended the Service, presided by the Rev. Stephen G. P. Strick­­ler, of the Hungarian Reformed Church, Manville, NJ. A dinner and social followed the wor­ship, with more than 180 attending to hear greetings and remarks by visiting clergy. The Rev. Stephen Torok represen­ted Bishop Andrew Harsanyi, on behalf of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America, and the Rev. Dezső Abraham spoke for the Hungarian Reformed Fede­ration. The pastor is a native of Woodbridge, and was Confirmed in the church there in the summer of 1942 by his predecessor, the late Rev. Leslie Egry. His roots are also in the John Calvin Church, Perth Amboy, where he was baptized and a member in his youth. In his years at Elmhurst College, he was President of the Hungarian Club, receiving the Bachelor of Arts, majoring is history. His Master of Divinity degree is from Lancaster Theological Seminary (PA). The Pastor and his wife Theresa are the parents of two sons and a daughter, and have three granddaughters. * The Ordination of Dr. Mihály Tapo­­lyai took place in the Sanctuary of the First Hungarian Reformed Church at Cle­veland on December 2, 1990. The solemn Service was presided by Bishop Zoltán D. Szűcs. The official invitation from both bishops of Transylvania was received. He will be our ‘foreign missionary’ working among our own Hungarian Reformed people in Transylvania. Now he is the Rev. Dr. Mihály Tapolyai, the very first foreign missionary of our own Calvin Synod. We have one foreign missionary of U.C.C. in our status in Tokio, Japan: the Rev. Anthony Carter and an other one, who was foreign missionary of the Hungarian Church in Transylvania to China in the person of the Rev. Sándor Babos. THE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION of the beginning of our Hungarian Church-Life in America — Our Day of Pentecost in our American Jerusa­lem: Cleveland. Time: December 9, Sunday, 4 p.m. Place: Cleveland West Side Hunga­rian Reformed Church. The Faithful Flock of the North- American Continent will congregate to the triumphant Jubelee for memo­­rialization of the Historic Date. Little belatedly though, but still be­fore the end of this Year, the great Historic Day will be remembered uni­tedly by our churches in the United States and Canada in this Season of Gratitude Attitude, on the second Sunday of Advent at the birth-place of all of us. The Invitation, printed here bellow, has been sent to all our churches through their ministers in all North- America. INVITATION In the unity of the Hungarian Re­formed Church in America, The Calvin Synod, The American Hungarian Re­formed Federation, The Hungarian Presbyterian Church and The Hunga­rian Reformed Churches of Canada we invite all of you in love and expect your presence on December 9,1990 at 4 p.m. for the joyful celebration of the 100th Anniversary of our American Hungarian Reformed witness, in order to strengthen our faith and af­firm our unity. It is quite befitting that we, as the wise men of the East, return to the manger of our Hungarian Reformed Church in America, to the West Side Hungarian Reformed Church, Cleve­land, for they have joyfully accepted the responsibility of hosting and orga­nizing this event to the glory of God and for the benefit of all of us. There will be a Banquet at 6:30 p.m. in the Calvin Hall, following the Worship Service and the Holy Com­munion.
