WHAT TO DO in preparation of our Annual Synod Meeting? □ ELECT regular and alternate delegates at your consistory meeting and report their names to the Bishop’s Office. D PAY the first quarter of your Synod Assessment to Synod Treasurer, Zoltán Király (who already mailed you the figures). Churches which fail to do so BEFORE Synod Meeting cannot claim travel reimbursement for their delegates. □ RESERVE room at Lord Ligonier Inn at your earliest convenience, using the form mailed to churches and ministers. Our group rate is still $32 for single and $35 for double occupancy. (Lord Ligonier Inn, Loyalhanna St., Ligonier, PA 15658, Phone: 412-238-9545.) □ EXPECT and study advance material. Amendment to the Constitution has already been mailed on March 6. This is the second mailing. By April 15 delegates received the third and final mailing. (The deans are requested to submit 100 copies of their reports to the Bishop’s Office. The amendments to the Synod and Classis Bylaws were distributed at the 1984 Annual Meeting. Please, find them, study them, and bring along with you to Ligonier... (It is not required to send them out in advance! See Bylaws, Art. XII) □ COME in car pool, if possible Try to arrive Sunday evening as some committees will meet Monday morning already (e.g. Committee on Church and Ministry at 9 A.M.). But come: it is too expensive to stay home! Come prayerfully that the Lord may graciously bless us at this crucial gathering. * URGENT CALL: The Hungarian Reformed Church Uniting, at its recent Temporary Administrative Council Meeting, heard reports on the worsening situation of the Reformed Church in Transylvania, and accepted two projects to help them. The two projects cost over $7,000. Because time is the essence, our congregations are urged to make extra efforts to meet this need. Send your money to the respective treasurer as soon as possible. VACANCIES: In addition to Dayton, New York, Springdale, now Buffalo, NY also became vacant on March 1, 1985 with the resignation of Rev. Marton Kerekes. Interested persons should call the Bishop’s Office. (Phoenixville, Winnepeg, Port Colborn, San Francisco are also looking for pastors. Argentina is also our task!) * PERSONAL NOTES: Rev. Joseph Kecskemethy underwent another open heart surgery; he is doing fine!... Rev. A. Elek has been operated for internal bleeding; his father passed away in February (Hungary), while his (their) daughter, Laure Ann married Ernest K. Abe on March 31, 1985... At the memorial service of the Rev. L. Hunyady on Feb. 17, 1985, Bishop Butosi expressed the condolances of our Synod... The Rev. Dr. E. M. Fabian, pastor of our now fully consolidated “New Covenant U.C.C. of McKeesport” moved to her new home: 3211 Stewart Ave., McKeesport, PA 15132 (phone remains the same: 412—678-3427)... András Czecze, seminary student at New Brunswick received $1000 from our Cleveland West Side Church and $500 from the New Brunswick Magyar Reformed Church, while Peter P. Bodor, seminary student at Ashland, OH received a loan of $1000 from the Cleveland 1st Church and another $1000 from the Synod’s Morgantown Fund; both of them are under the care of our Synod, graduating in May... * JUST BRIEFLY: The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America increased its subsidy to the Youth Camp from $1000 to $1500. The camp on Aug. 11 — 17 will have as its theme: “Spiritual Fitness”... The Bethlen Naptár will be available in April... Rev. Sándor Kovács is the new dean of our Central Classis...
