Stephen M. Böszörményi — Bes­semer, pastor of our Bridgeport, Conn, church and his church people for their warm hospitality and helpful­ness during the entire meeting. We are most proud and happy to have had the privilege and opportunity to be guests of this leading and for­ward-loving congregation in New Eng­land. A special word of thanks to the ladies for their part in making the Testimonial Dinner in honor of out­standing lay persons a beautiful and long to be remembered occasion. Ordinations Mrs. Coralyn T. Medyesy, pastor of our Grace Reformed Church in Gary was ordained to the Christian Ministry on May 28, 1972 in Gary by Bishop Beretz. She was presented for ordination by Rev. Desmond Par­­ragh, President of the Western Clas­­sis. Assisting in the ordination were the Rev. Victor Orth, the Rev. Ar­thur Ludwig, the Rev. Laslo Medyesy, and the Mr. Joseph Benedek. Ministers of various denominations were invited to join in the laying on of hands. The Rev. Mrs. Medyesy in the first woman to be ordained by our Synod to the Christian Ministry and prob­ably the first in our Hungarian Re­formed tradition. Official Communications Colomon Karl Ludwig, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Arthur A. Ludwig, was ordained to the Christian Ministry on June 4, 1972 in our Indiana Harbor church. The ordination service was presided over by Arpad L. Beretz, Bishop. The presentation of the can­didate to the Synod was made by Rev. Parragh. Assisting in the service were sixteen clergy including all the pastors of the Western Classis. Mrs. Coloman Karl Ludwig, wife of the newly ordained minister, was also ordained to the ministry in Ohio. Lay Ministers Mr. Joseph Benedek, of the Kala­mazoo, Michigan church, was enrolled in the Lay Ministry program of Calvin Synod Conference with permission to administer the sacraments and rites of the church in his local congrega­tion. Mr. Benedek is the first person to be enrolled in this new program. Also received into the Lay Ministry program was Mr. Joseph Horcsik of Dayton, Ohio. Mr. Horcsik has been an outstanding lay worship leader and worker for many years. Central Classis Election At the Annual Meeting of Central Classis in April, the following officers were elected: The Rev. Dr. George Csia of Pittsburgh, president; Mr. Stephen Tobos of Homestead, lay vice­­president; Dr. László L. Berzeviczy of Me Keesport, secretary-treasurer. Our congratulations to the new of­ficers. Camp Kanasatake The Rev. Laslo Medyesy, Youth Committee chairman, will be the Camp Director this year. A fine program has been planned. Our pastors should encourage our young people to attend this enriching and rewarding oppor­tunity to grow spiritually and in fel­lowship with other young people of Synod. Camp time is August 13-19. Are You Going to Washington, D.C.? Concordia United Church of Christ, 20th and G. Streets N.W., Washing­ton, D.C. 20006 has established a Con­ference Center for all church-related organizations. Very reasonable rates are offered to groups and individuals. $1.00 a day for a person for use of meeting rooms plus the same amount for those who make use of the sleeping facili­ties. Pastor Resigns The Rev. Paul Kovács, pastor of our Johnstown church, has resigned from his position as of July 31, 1972 to accept the pastorate of the Sharon congregation. The pulpit is declared vacant on August 1, 1972. Communication regard­ing the vacancy should be addressed to the Bishop’s office. Bishop on Advisory Board Bishop Beretz has agreed to serve on the Advisory Board of the Amer­­ican-Hungarian Cultural Center of Washington. D.C. The Center’s activities include: the second memorial lecture for the late John von Neumann; continuation of a grant to the American University for the further development of the “Eastern European Studies”; and the Commissioning of Sándor Veress, a noted composer, to compose a requiem.
