Bethlen Almanac 2001 (Ligonier)

The Bethlen Almanac

THE BETHLEN ALMANAC Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ: As the newly elected President-Chief Executive Officer of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, I count it as a great privilege to write the introductory words to the Bethlen Almanac 2001 edition. I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks and gratitude to the editorial staff for the time and talent they have offered in order to publish this book. Through the years the Almanac has provided not only good reading material, but also a reflection of what we are and what we do, as a Hungarian Christian community in the United States. It has been said, that the most convincing proof of our Christian conviction lies in the manner in which we live our faith. All the arguments in the world will not convince others of what we believe, unless we give tangible evidence of what we do, how we live that faith out in our manifold communities. The proof of our faith is not found in a simple formula, or our creeds, but in the texture of our lives. Jesus our Lord, concerning His own said: “you shall know them by their fruits.” In the following pages you will read reports on the life and events of our beloved Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, a Fraternal Life insurance company, the great service of our charitable institution, the Bethlen Home, as well as an accounting of our church organizations regardless of what denominations they belong to or what languages they speak. We hope that this book, as in the past, will become a wealth of information to those who seek to know more about us either in this country or throughout the world. May God grant in His free grace many opportunities to enjoy the reading of this book and through the sharing of our faith encourage us to discover each other. Through the years thousands have looked upon us; many have walked with us. May we all be strengthened in the service of each other and our Lord. Faithfully in the service of the Lord and community. Rt. Rev. Stefan M. Török, President/CEO The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America 1
