The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America

HRFA Branches Serving Membership and Community Join Hands Day On June 16th members of Branch 35 held the first annual Join Hands Day of Branch 35. We planted flowers in front of the American Hungarian Reformed Church in Allen Park, Michigan and worked hard all day to beautify the landscape of our beloved church. We were all very pleased with the results of our efforts. Reverend Ferenc Varga and Jim Nagy, Vice President of our branch, were among the gardeners. At the end of a hard day’s work, we rewarded ourselves with a nice luncheon. Thank you to all the volunteers who came out for our first annual Join Hands Day. It was a great success and we look forward to next year’s project! Edie T. Santo, Secretary, Br. 35, Detroit, Michigan L. to r.: Sam Vespremi, Zoltán Ambrus, Iren Ambrus, Rev. Ferenc Varga, Dona Szabó, Louise Vespremi, Paul Korody, V.P. Jim Nagy, and Chief Elder George Opra. Standing in front: Joshua Ritchie, Edie Santo and Edith Santo. Our project was to beautify our church, the Heritage Church, Davison, Michigan. It was planned in the Sunday school class of both our adults and youth. We chose this project taking into consideration the needs of the church community, which has a large elderly congregation, planted flowers around the church. It was strenuous, daylong and enjoyable. At the end of the day, the youth served a picnic and cleaned up afterwards. The youth were enthusiastic and plan to carry on the tradition and lead the next Join Hands Day project. Sara Nagy, Br. Manager, Br. 182 Flint, Michigan Youth and adults joined hands on June 16,2001. 44
