while Arthur worked first at Frigidaire, then at NCR. It was during this time that he attended Bonbrake Theological Seminary (now United Theological Seminary). Rev. Dr. Arthur Aurel Ludwig was called to pastor the Indiana Harbor First Hungarian Evangelical and Reformed Church in 1958, where he was also ordained. Piroska was fully a partner in her husband’s vocation as a minister, in church life, and involved together with him in Hungarian cultural interests in Northwest Indiana and the Chicago area. Piroska was branch manager of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, Branch 164 for many years, while Rev. Ludwig was District Manager in the Chicago area. Piroska accompanied her husband to Calvin Synod meetings, to the Hungarian Reformed Ministerial Association meetings and to UCC Board of Homeland Ministries meetings throughout his years of ministry. Piroska continued to work as a children’s librarian in East Chicago until her retirement in 1975. She has made her home in Denver, Colorado since 1983, where her daughter, Irene lives, and became an active member of the Sixth Avenue United Church of Christ, while retaining her affiliation with the Indiana Harbor congregation. Piroska was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ludwig, in 1981, and her mother, Valeria Gizella Konrad, in 1982. She is mourned by 5 children: Piroska (Ludwig) Szabó of Long Island, New York; Aurel Ludwig, Zora Valeria Ludwig (Eugene Pidzarko) and Koloman Karl Ludwig, all of Hammond, Indiana, Irene Ludwig (Gerald Fomey) of Denver. 7 grandchildren: Nicholas Szabó, Margaret (Szabó) Link Stephen Szabó, Irene (Ludwig) Montalvo, Julie Ludwig, Christina Fomey, and Anne Marie Fomey. 2 great-grandchildren: Amanda Montalvo and Gina Montalvo.
