Our dance group has slowed down, since many of the dancers became grandparents. We continue to raise canned food for the Red Cross, we collected this year again several thousand cans. Hungarian worship is held once a month, on the first Sundays at 12 Noon, followed by the Magyar Club meetings. We continue helping the Bethlen Home. Rev. Nitsch is a member of the Executive Board of the Home. We are all excited about the new Bethlen Home project. We are getting excited as well about our church’s 100th Anniversary here in Dayton, to be celebrated in November of 2002, and preparations for the event are already on the way. Our main concern is the future of our church and community here in the Dayton area, where there is no new emigration since 1956. We hope we can overcome the hardships, and our congregation will continue to live an active life in this community. “If God be for us, who can be against us?” Soli Deo Gloria. Rev. Gábor G. Nitsch, Dean Daytoni magyar istentiszteleteinket többnyire a római katolikus testvérek látogatják. Tizenöt éve nem volt magyar istentisztelet, mivel amerikai lelkész szolgálta a gyülekezetét. Az elmúlt három esztendő folyamán, minden hó első vasárnapján tartunk magyarul istentiszteletet. Mivel ez a gyülekezet negyedgenerációs, már alig beszélnek tagjaink magyarul. Mindezek ellenére a legnagyobb esemény a március 15.-ei bankettünk, amelyre 300-nál többen jönnek el minden évben. Az elmúlt esztendőben több ifjú magyar dolgozott a városban, akik számára sikeres karácsonyi vacsorát rendeztünk, s több mint harmincán jöttek el, egyháztagjainkkal hatvanon felül voltunk. A szeretetvendégséget gyertyafényes istentisztelet követte. A tiszteletesasszony angolul oktatja az ifjakat. Nagy öröm számunkra, hogy a vasárnapi iskola is újra megnyitotta kapuit, és jelenleg hét gyermek kap vallásos oktatást. Templomhelyiségeinket megnyitottuk a helyi közösség felé is, és egy modem tánciskola próbál termeinkben, ahonnan máris sikerült egy családot nyernünk egyháztagjaink sorába, két gyermekkel. 76
