Meals on Wheels Program My favorite pastime is to help out at the Beth Center Senior Center, where I volunteer for any job needed. However, I mostly help in the kitchen, getting the Meals on Wheels prepared and helping the cook to get the daily noon meal ready. We are very fortunate in our town to have a lovely center for our elderly people to meet in - have dinner every day and partake in various types of entertainment. We could always use more people as volunteers, especially in the Meals on Wheels program. I understand the problem is the same all over the country. If you can give a few hours a week, please do so. Some of these people who get their meals never have anyone to talk to and they so much look forward to these visits. My sister-in-law Mary Sape was the cook here until her retirement. My brother Norman Sape and his wife deliver these meals in Chesapeake, Virginia. It is a wonderful feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. Irene Sinclair, Manager Branch 158, Vestaburg, Pennsylvania “CSALÁDFA” Many decades have passed since information has reached us pertaining to relatives remaining in Makkosjanosi, Bereg megye, now in the Ukraine. During a meeting in New Jersey with visiting Bishop László Horkay, Bishop of the Reformed Church of Sub-Carpathia, Ukraine, we were informed that his residence was close to the area in which our ancestors lived. Our family name was left with him in the fervent hope that somehow, someone would recognize it and respond. Upon returning home from a subsequent meeting in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, we were overcome with emotion to see a letter waiting for us from Makkosjanosi. It came from a first cousin in the Pauli family. She introduced herself as Eva, the youngest family member of Uncle Bertalan Pauli. In her letter she explained that there were five members in her family remaining and two other first cousins in the family of another uncle. In total, seven first cousins were found to be still living in that area. Eva was very interested in information about the many relatives here, for, as we were seeking news of anyone there, they likewise were hoping for news of relatives here in America. 23
