churches, clubs and organizations in the Greater Cleveland area, numbering twenty-seven in all. Kathy Kapossy (Mrs. John Palasics) is the very capable, creative, enthusiastic President who spearheaded this event with the assistance of these organizations, their leaders and the Hungarian scouts. Prominent guests included Roman Catholic Cardinal Dr. László Paskai, Primate of Hungary and Archbishop of Budapest-Esztergom as well as János Nagy, Helden Tenor Soloist, who is President of the Szomathely Opera in Hungary. The Cleveland Women’s Orchestra was under the baton of its capable conductor-director Robert Cronquist and The Choral Arts Society under the masterful hand of Mari Elegant. Amanda-Joyce Abbott was the dramatic Soprano Soloist. Compositions by Bartók, Brahms, Erkel, Kacsoh, Kodály, Liszt and contemporary George Németh were performed. Excerpts from Németh’s Hungarian Opera “Blood Covenant” recently produced - was featured on the program and will be premiering in Budapest in 2001. A Gala Banquet followed the concert in the Church’s large auditorium. Various speakers greeted the guests and the musicians. To mention a few: August Pust, representing Ohio Governor Bob Taft’s office and Ohio Senator George Voinivich in Columbus; a representative for Michael J. White, Mayor of the City of Cleveland; Peter Laki, Program Annotator for The American Hungarian Foundation in New Brunswick, New Jersey. A Proclamation from Governor Bob Taft of Columbus was presented to our Pastor, the Rev. Frank Juhász Shepherd at the banquet honoring the 45th Jubilee Anniversary of his Ordination into the Christian Ministry and in recognition of his faithful and loyal services to the Hungarian community in Cleveland and worldwide. In celebrating this important historic moment in the life of our people, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who were instrumental in “Millennial Coronation Concert.” The Rev.
