finom ebédet, ami után a gyermekek ismét műsorral szolgáltak. Gyülekezetünk kis fúvós együttese és énekkara örömet okoz azok számára is, akik hallgatják - áldást árasztva valamennyiünkre. Egyházunk életének sok eseménye mellett, lelkipásztorunk vezetésével, gondot fordítunk az idősek gondozására, a rendszeres családlátogatásra és új emigránsok segítésének szolgálatára is. E néhány sorral, úgy vélem, sikerül hiteles képet közvetítenem gyülekezetünk megerősödő és kiteljesedő életéről, szolgálatáról. Mindezekért az ősi, református hitvallás szerint: Soli Deo Gloria - Egyedül Istené a Dicsőség, Tisztesség és Hálaadás! Kérjük Isten megtartó kegyelmének megtapasztalását magyar református népünk körében, és a szolgálatokhoz kívánunk erőt, egészséget, jókedvet. Dr. Molnár József gondnok GIVING THANKS IN VANCOUVER The year 2000, a date of double significance to Hungarians, was especially rich in the life of the Calvin (Hungarian) Presbyterian Church of Vancouver. Besides the regular holiday celebrations, we witnessed the investiture of our new minister, Miklós Szigeti, on July 9th, 2000. Reverend Szigeti became the 5th minister to serve at Calvin Church, founded in 1955. Between November 3rd and 13th, we were honored by the visit of the President of the Synod of the Reformed Churches of Hungary. Dr. Gusztáv Bölcskei, Reformed Bishop of Eastern Hungary was guest of honour and keynote speaker at our Annual Banquet on November 12th. During his stay, he attended and addressed the meeting of the Westminster Presbytery of Vancouver; held two evangelical meetings at the church; delivered the Sunday sermon on the 12th; and gave a most enlightening talk on the historical background of the past 55 years in the life of the Reformed Church of Hungary. We had other events to be thankful for. The wife of the minister, Márta Szigeti, a professional pedagogue, restarted Sunday school, as well as Hungarian reading and writing instructions for the children. The number of children attending these instructions almost doubled since conducted by Mrs. Szigeti. In January we held an ecumenical week with our Roman Catholic brothers and sisters, with services in both churches. At Easter, two young boys, Tamás Kalló and János Hajdú were confirmed, thus becoming communicant members of the Church. 151
