BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT United Church of Christ Bridgeport, Connecticut Pastor: Rev. Betsy F. Reed Chief Elder: Joseph C. Poruban The United Church of Christ of Bridgeport, CT is currently in its ninety-fifth year of ministry in this city. We continue to gather for worship, Christian Education (both children and adult) and fellowship on a weekly basis. Lay and ordained leadership work together to provide opportunities for worship, fellowship and service. During 1998, seven new members were added to the rolls. We are currently working on ways to increase church membership and participation. A series of meetings this past winter engaged the congregation in sharing their experiences and memories as well as their hopes for the future of their church. The ideas shared have been noted and collated and the Consistory and corvettes are working to put a number of them into practice. As the year progresses various new and ongoing activities are planned, including the craft and flea markets, the annual Rose Ball, Mother’s, Father’s and Children’s Days observances, and a variety of luncheons, dinners and breakfasts. On November 7, 1999 we celebrated our ninety-fifth anniversary with special worship and a banquet. We look forward to years of growth and service as we move into the second Millennium. Rev. Betsy F.
