THE FIRST ANNUAL HRFA WILLIAM AROS MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT The first William Aros Memorial Golf Tournament was held on July 18, 1999, at Champion Lakes Golf Course in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. The course is a challenging one and considered to be one of the finest in Pennsylvania. The busy weekend started with a reception on Saturday evening for the golfers, Board members and their families. This event coincided with Board meetings and the Ligonier Fraternal Day. On Sunday morning, the golfers were greeted by members of the Board and the National Officers. Refreshments were served all day long to the 67 men and women who registered. The outing started with a devotion led by Rev. Imre A. Bertalan and Rev. Stefan Torok. Remembered in their prayers was the late William Aros, Vice President of the Board of the HRFA. Richard W. Aros, son of William Aros, and family were the primary sponsors of the tournament named after him. The day proved to be extremely hot and many close calls (“flying balls”) were averted; however, no injuries were reported, thank goodness.
