DAVISON, MICHIGAN Heritage Church, United Church of Christ Davison, Michigan Pastor: Rev. Zoltán S. Sutto Chief Elder: Franklin Nagy 1999 has been a very active one for the members of the Heritage Church, United Church of Christ, as they worked their way, with the help of our Good Lord, toward the new century and millennium. On February 7, 1999 at our Annual Congregation Meeting the following officers were installed for the church - Mr. Franklin Nagy, Chief Elder, Dr. Kalman Knizner, DDS, Assistant Chief Elder, Mrs. Priscilla Nagy, Secretary and Ms. Ethel Varga, Treasurer. Also, Mrs. Mary Lou Fischer was sworn in as President of our Women’ s Guild and Mr. Michael Gordon as the President of the Men’s Fellowship Organization The entire congregation approved a very progressive plan of action for the church with the following items to be at the head of the program. First, continued work in the area of Evangelism working towards a goal of increased membership by the year 2000. For the church realizes the importance of spreading God’s message to all folks and the need for our church to become more a part of the entire community and its special needs in its spiritual matters. Second, a more active role in local and church-wide Mission programs and as part of this a new committee, dealing strictly with Missions, was formed. Part of their mandate is to establish a monthly mission program for local charities and on the last Sunday of every month a special collection will be made and the money will be given to the selected organization. Last, the Consistory and the congregation agreed to review the financial program of the church to more clearly show the cost of operation to its members, so that they would be more knowledgeable when it came to their donations and offerings. The music program of the church under the direction of Mrs. Eileen Nagy continues to flourish. The hand chime choirs were started this year and the response was very positive from the congregation and all you have heard them. The youth program had another successful Vacation Bible Class and they learned a lot about the great Disciple Peter. The Sunday School program while small in numbers, compared to some churches, stands tall in the various options that are presented to the youth of the 114
