REPORT OF THE PRESBYTERIAN CONGREGATION WITH HUNGARIAN BACKGROUND

There was a time when thirty-two congregations belonged to the Conference of the Hungarian Presbyterian Churches, however, due to natural attrition this number decreases significantly as the years pass by. In the U.S.A., which is also known as a melting pot, the circumstances were not favorable for ethnic churches to keep up their membership and identity. Marriages, moving to another state for better employment, and tne third and fourth generations taking the place of the previous ones have contributed to the limited future of the ethnic churches in the New World.

The Conference of the Hungarian Churches has slowly become history. There are still some congregations with Hungarian background in the U.S.A. where worship services are conducted in Hungarian also, however, their connection with each other, due to the great distances, from New York to Florida, is only occasional. There is no official tie among them anymore, unfortunately.

According to the latest report (Directory of Presbyterian Church, USA, Minutes, part III, 1997-98) these churches are listed which once belonged to the Conference of the Hungarian Presbyterian Churches.
