Bethlen Home looks toward new challenges

BETHLEN HOME LOOKS TOWARD NEW CHALLENGES The Bethlen Home of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, celebrating 75 years of service to Ligonier and the surrounding communities, recently hosted a luncheon to gather community input on how to enhance its mission, and at the same time support the community at large. Among those attending were Ron Burns of Mellon Bank, Tom Sylvester of Commercial National Bank, Susan Din of the Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce, Vanessa Roddy from the Ligonier Valley School District, David McLeary of the Ligonier Valley School Board, Ina Mae Smithley of Rep. Jess Stairs’ office, and Bill Hamilton, ombudsman. Also attending were George Dózsa, president of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, Washington, D.C.; members of the Bethlen Home Executive Board, and supervisory personnel from the home. The Rev. Paul Kovács, executive director of The Bethlen Home, was presented a citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in recognition of The Bethlen Home’s 75 years of service to the community. “Today the nursing home industry is being challenged as never before to excel in its services to the elderly,” remarked Rev. Paul Kovács. “New regulations are being created to ensure that residents receive the most effective care. To the present day, the focus and admonition of The Bethlen Home has been to provide the best possible care for those in need. “Moving into the 21st century will present new challenges to the community and surrounding area,” he added. “The Bethlen Home believes it is up to the challenge, and looks forward to many years of continued service and cooperative effort with our neighbors.” (The Ligonier Echo, Wednesday, April 3, 1996)
