Dr. Vitéz Ferenc, püspök: A Kálvin Egyházkerület

English Sunday School Christmas Program, 1992. It is impossible to compress into a one-page report all the happenings of one and a half year, we will try to be brief though. The state of our congregation continues to be encouraging; there is gradual improvement in almost every respect. We are grateful to God and to our members for the peace and order among us, and at the same time, for the flexibility and openness with which—with the help of the Spirit—we reach to the demands of modern life. According to 1992 data, the Hungarian worship were attended by an average of 67 persons, the English by 48. The Hungarian and the English Sunday Schools were about equal in number, 21-20 students each. We are intentional about building harmony between the linguistically two sections of our congregation; in the past, it was a source of much mistrust. We do our outmost to protect and cultivate the Hungarian language and culture, but in such a way that those members who do not speak Hungarian, or do not speak it well, would still feel totally at home in the midst of us. The English and the Hungarian Bible Fellowship with 5 or 6 participants meet on alternate weeks. Our choir-average size 14, plus occasionally a few instrumentalists—sings on both languages at holidays, or at special events. 206
